WFBPMHA is a local mental health charity based in Waltham Forest, East London.
Since 1991, we’ve worked to meet the mental health needs of Black and Minority Ethnic communities who often face challenges accessing the right support.
Since 1991, Waltham Forest Black People’s Mental Health Association has supported adults from Black and Minority Ethnic communities who are living with mental health challenges. We began as a small community initiative and have grown into a trusted day service provider, recognised for over 30 years of dedicated work.
Our charity was founded to address the lack of culturally appropriate services and to create a safe space where people could feel understood, respected and supported. Today, we remain true to that mission while continuing to adapt to the needs of our community.

We are committed to empowering adults to live healthier, more independent and fulfilling lives. Through advocacy, day support and a wide range of activities, we help individuals build confidence, reduce isolation and strengthen their wellbeing.
We also work closely with carers, families and mental health professionals, ensuring that support extends beyond the individual to the wider community.
BPMHA is managed by a small, committed team of dedicated workers and volunteers, many of whom bring lived experience and cultural understanding to the work we do.
If you’re interested in getting involved, whether by offering your time, or joining our team, please get in touch. We’d love to hear from you.
